Tetovo

Tetovo is a city in the northwestern part of Macedonia, built on the foothills of Shara Mountain and divided by the Pena River. The city covers an area of 1,080 km² at 468 metres above sea level and with a population of 70,033 citizens.

Shara Mountain is being mentioned mostly because of the attractive ski center Popov Shapka and beautiful grasslands, as well as the unique kind of the dog called Sharplaninec - a rare Shepard dog. In Tetovo however there is a mix of the Islamic and christian culture. One should visit the Colourful Mosque and Arabati Baba teke, the Monastery in Leshok.

It is home to the State University of Tetovo and South East European University.
