Holy Archangels - Varos

St. Archangel Monastery is one of the most beautiful and most significant cultural monuments and religion centres in Macedonia. The monastery compound was initially erected on the foundations of an edifice dating from the 11-th or 12-th century.

Further buildings were built in phases, including several inns that were added in the 19-th century. The temple is dedicated to the Holy Arhangels with frescos dating from 1270/ 80.

Next to entrance is the portrait of the donor, Jovan. The portraits of the Kings Volkasin and Marko were painted in 1371, on the best facade of the eastern church. In front of the church there is marble column with an inscription in Cyrilic lettering.
